Earning the AWS Certified AI Practitioner

On August 29, 2026, I passed the AWS Certified AI Practitioner (AIF-C01) exam. The result did not include a numerical score, but it did confirm the outcome that mattered: pass.

This was my first AWS certification, and the preparation was a useful reminder that studying more is not always the same as studying better. My first official practice result was 621. The next two were 733 and 742, followed by a pass on the real exam. That progression came from narrowing the work instead of repeatedly reviewing everything.

Using the blueprint as a diagnostic tool

The official AWS exam blueprint became the structure for the final part of my preparation. I mapped missed questions back to the domains and task statements, then looked for patterns. That made it easier to separate genuine knowledge gaps from questions I had simply misread.

Once the weak areas were visible, I could repair them directly. I spent less time revisiting topics I already understood and more time on the distinctions AWS expected me to make: choosing between related services, understanding where responsible AI controls fit and recognizing what a question was actually testing.

What changed between 621 and the pass

The biggest change was treating practice exams as evidence rather than judgment. A low score was not a reason to restart the entire course. It was a set of clues. After each attempt, I reviewed the misses, tied them back to the blueprint and built a smaller list of topics to revisit.

The later practice results showed that the targeted repair was working, but they also helped with exam technique. I became more deliberate about reading qualifiers, eliminating answers that solved a different problem and not changing a choice without a specific reason.

What I’m keeping for the next certification

The most useful lesson is to make the exam guide part of the study process from the beginning. It provides a boundary for the material and a consistent way to track weak areas. Practice results are most valuable when they lead to specific follow-up work, not when they become a score to chase on their own.

The AWS Certified AI Practitioner is now earned. More importantly, I have a preparation method I can reuse: start with the official blueprint, test early enough to expose gaps, repair those gaps deliberately and use later practice attempts to confirm the improvement.
